Voltaire Magazine Vol.5
The Voltaire Magazine is published every year as a group project of students at the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund. The fifth issue deals with the topic of Faith. We tried to interpret this in many different ways. In order to design the magazine, we took the Bible as a model, but also other objects and abstract elements associated with the many aspects of religion and faith, for example halos. As art director of the magazine, I coordinated the processes in the design group and finalized the design. The issue was produced with four different titles.

Alien life, undeniable truth or just a myth? Nevertheless, there is a small group of people who believe that the earth is a sphere, the so-called globe. What happens when the disbelief in the security of of the state also undermines it? We asked four people the question of the meaning of life. Cryonics refers to the freezing of organisms (usually the brain) in order to revive them in the future. In our western world the neo-shamanism is experiencing an upswing: regardless of indigenous peoples or traditions, more and more people reconnect with nature. We wanted to get to the bottom of it and interviewed a user, a homeopath, a quantum physicist and a well-known critic. When the pressure on him became too great, he fled with his followers to Chile and founded Colonia Dignidad – the colony of dignity. The Last Testament features visual accounts and stories of seven men around the world who claim to be the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
